(PALMERSTON, ON) - On October 19, 2019 at approximately 10:30 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County, Perth County and Wellington County detachments were operating a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) in Palmerston.
A driver entered the RIDE program and was spoken to by police. Officers observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
Further investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of a controlled substance.
Darryl DWARIKA, 41-years-old, of Palmerston was arrested and charged with;
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
Possession of a prohibited device - brass knuckles
Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The driver was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, London on October 20, 2019 to answer the charges.
On October 26, 2019, OPP officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant on property seized during the traffic stop. As a result of the execution of the Search Warrant, police seized methamphetamine, cocaine and further drug trafficking paraphernalia.
The estimated value of the seized Controlled Substance is $28,000.
