(GODERICH, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a pair of Goderich residents with Theft & Trespassing at Night after they were caught stealing marihuana plants in the Town of Goderich.
On September 17, 2019 Huron OPP officers received a report from a victim that reported three of his marihuana plants had been stolen sometime during the early morning hours from his backyard patio. Fortunately the thieves left behind a trail of loose leaves that proved helpful in the investigation. Further evidence lead officers to identifying two of the involved suspects.
On October 2, 2019 Huron OPP arrested 28-year-old Jacob COCKRAM from Goderich. He has been charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Trespassing at Night. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 18, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
Huron OPP identified a second suspect and several attempts were made to locate him however it wasn't until November 1, 2019 when officers arrested him on an outstanding arrest warrant. Joel HILL, 54 years of age, from Goderich was taken into custody and a search incident to arrest found him in possession of suspected Methamphetamine and Hydromorphone.
HILL is now facing charges of Theft Under $5,000, Trespassing at Night, Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine, Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Hyrdromorphone and Fail to Comply with Probation Order - Two Counts. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 18, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice. - Goderich.
