(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On September 29, 2019, at approximately 10:30 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible drunk-driver on Wellington Road 7 south of the town of Elora. It was reported that a driver of a brown sedan was driving erratically and that the driver was possibly impaired.
Police attended and located the driver. Officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. They were arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing. The driver was also found to be in possession of a prohibited edged weapon.
As a result of the investigation Edson EDOUARD, 39-years-old of Toronto, has been charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon and Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood). A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on October 29, 2019.
