(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a pair of Central Huron residents with several offences following a traffic stop that took place last week.
At approximately 10:20 p.m. on November 22, 2019 Huron OPP officers observed a hatchback travelling on Saltford Road with an expired validation sticker. A traffic stop was conducted and a subsequent driver's licence check revealed the driver to be currently serving a driver's licence suspension.
A search incident to arrest was conducted and it found the passenger to be in possession of suspected Hydromorphone. Additionally, upon searching the vehicle officers located a prohibited knife and suspected methamphetamine.
Both occupants were placed under arrest and taken into custody.
The driver, Lindsay COURTNEY, 39 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with three counts of Drive Under Suspension, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine and Drive Motor Vehicle - No Validation on Plate. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 13, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
The passenger, Christopher KURTH, 34 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Hydromorphone, Fail to Comply with Weapons Prohibition (2) counts and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 16, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
