(PERTH COUNTY, ON) - Within the last few days, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County detachment have removed three impaired drivers from the road.
On December 13, 2019 at approximately 7:00 a.m., an officer operating a fully marked cruiser was on general patrol of Line 86, east of Listowel. The officer was driving at the posted speed limit when they were passed by another vehicle travelling in the same direction. The officer conducted a traffic stop to speak with the driver. In speaking with the driver, it was determined that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to the Listowel OPP detachment for further testing.
John GRIFFIN, 60-years-old, of North Perth was charged the following;
Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on December 23, 2019 to answer the charge.
On December 14, 2019 at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers in Listowel responded to the report of a possible impaired driver. Officers responded quickly and located the motor vehicle. In speaking with the driver, it was determined that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to the Listowel OPP detachment for further testing.
Thomas POLLARD, 60-years-old, of Central Huron was charged the following;
Operation while impaired - alcohol
Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on December 30, 2019 to answer the charge.
On December 14, 2019 at approximately 6:50 p.m., an officer on general patrol of Perth Road 135, north of Sebringville observed a pickup parked on the side of the road and partially in the ditch. In speaking with the driver, it was determined that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to the Sebringville OPP detachment for further testing.
Dana BRODA, 38-years-old, of Nithburg was charged the following;
Operation while impaired - alcohol
Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on December 30, 2019 to answer the charge.
The three accused had their driver's licence seized and a 90 Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) was imposed. The motor vehicles were towed and impounded by statute.
