(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - At approximately 9:15 p.m. on January 18, 2020, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a disturbance on St. Andrew Street East in the Town of Fergus. It was reported that a person was out of control at a restaurant, yelling at staff and causing a disturbance.
OPP attended and located the suspect near the restaurant who appeared to be intoxicated. Officers were arresting the suspect for public intoxication when they became combative and head-butted the officer. Search incident to arrest revealed a large quantity of cannabis on the suspect.
As a result of the investigation, Mark Daniel BOYS, 31-years-old of Fergus, was charged with Assault a Peace Officer, Possession of over 30 grams of Dried Cannabis and Being Intoxicated in a Public Place. The accused is scheduled to appear on February 18, 2020, at the Ontario court of justice - Guelph.
