(GODERICH, ON) - A Goderich resident is facing some criminal charges following a theft investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
On January 22, 2020 Huron OPP were asked to investigate a theft of a laptop and carry bag that was stolen from a restaurant in the Town of Goderich. A review of the patron seating area video surveillance was conducted and a suspect was identified. About an hour later an OPP officer spotted the suspect on Blake Street in Goderich. The suspect was carrying the stolen laptop and carry bag. He was placed under arrest and a search incident to arrest found the accused to be also in possession of various break-in tools and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
Corey PROUSE, 41 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Possession of Break-in Instruments and Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 9, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
