(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged a Municipality of South Bruce resident with Attempted Murder and other criminal charges following a fail to remain collision that took place March 11, 2020 at the north end of Wingham.
At approximately 2:13 p.m. on March 11, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and North Huron Fire Department responded to London Road (Huron County #4) and Josephine Street North after receiving information about a pedestrian that had been struck by a pickup truck that failed to remain at the scene.
The adult victim was transported from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital and was treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
As a result of an investigation led by the Huron County OPP Crime Unit, assisted by members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team, the accused was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday, March 12, 2020.
Vincent FITZSIMONS, 40 years of age, from the Municipality of South Bruce has been charged with the following offences:
Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
Fail to Stop After an Accident Causing Bodily Harm
The accused remains in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for March 16, 2020.
