(GODERICH) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several break-ins that have recently taken place at a trailer park and marina located in Goderich on North Harbour Road.
Huron OPP has learned at least 11 trailers/sheds were broken into over the last few weeks. A full inventory of the stolen property has yet to be established.
Huron OPP is urging all vacation property owners to ensure that all valuable items are removed from the premises. Small appliances, electronics and alcohol are often targeted by thieves as they are easy to steal and equally easy to sell for cash and drugs. Cottages, trailers and other out-buildings should be properly locked at all times.
Property owners are encouraged to have someone check their vacation property on a frequent basis during the "off-season" to ensure everything is secure. This tried and tested method is the best deterrent against crime.
Huron OPP also continues to appeal to persons living in and around trailer parks and/or cottages to report any and all suspicious activity to police when it happens.
Any person with information regarding this incident should immediately contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 524-8314.
Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
