(GODERICH, ON) - A Huron County man is facing several charges, including a Robbery charge in connection with an event that took place yesterday in Goderich.
At approximately 1:20 p.m. on April 29, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a business located on Bayfield Road after learning a customer had entered the store and was causing problems in the store. The suspect had attempted to steal items from the store and when approached by a staff member he made a verbal threat, as well, he threatened a staff member with an axe that he had located inside the store.
Officers arrived on scene and quickly located the suspect still inside the store. The suspect failed to comply with the officer's orders and resisted the officers upon arrest. The accused also threatened to cause bodily harm to one of the arresting officers.
Cody BECHELY, 23 years of age, of no fixed address has been charged with Robbery With a Weapon, Resist Peace Officer, Uttering Threats, Mischief Under $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He remains in custody with an upcoming court date at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
