(TARA, ON) - On April 30, 2020 at 8:59 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a dispute at a residence along John Street in Tara. Officers arrived and learned that an assault had taken place. The accused was located at his residence, but refused to cooperate with police. Members of the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and an OPP Canine Unit attended the scene to assist the South Bruce OPP with this incident.
Approximately 3:29 a.m. on May 1, 2020, OPP ERT members entered the residence and took the accused into custody without incident. James TELFORD, 36-years-old, of Arran-Elderslie Township was charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. The accused was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for May 1, 2020.
The victim reported minor injuries to police.
