(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) - On May 6, 2020 at approximately 2:05 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a northbound motor vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 155 km/h.
Nida HAKIMYAR, 20-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle, Speeding and Drive Motor Vehicle - No Currently Validated Permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice - Provincial Offences Court on August 19, 2020. The vehicle and driver's licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
