(SOUTH HURON, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an Exeter resident with a number of offences, including a Resist Arrest charge, following an incident that took place in Exeter this past weekend.
On Sunday, May 24, 2020 Huron OPP officers responded to a Marlborough Street residence for a disturbance that was taking place on the front porch. Police were informed the accused was banging on the front door, yelling and was trying to get into the premise.
Minutes later an officer arrived and attempted to arrest the accused however she failed to comply with the officer's instructions and continued to resist arrest. A conducted energy weapon (CEW) was utilized and ultimately the accused was taken into custody.
Hayley STEWARD, 26 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Resist Peace Officer, Fail to Comply with Probation Order - two counts and Fail to Comply with Release Order - two counts. The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 26, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
