(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) - On May 30, 2020 at approximately 1:00 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services responded to a 911 call on Trafalgar Road near Side Road 17 in the Town of Erin.
Police attended the scene and located a pick-up truck with frontend damage. Officers were approached by an intoxicated individual with facial injuries who identified themselves as the driver. Police placed the driver under arrest for impaired driving and they were subsequently transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life- threatening injuries.
Upon arrival at the hospital the driver was noncompliant with police and refused to comply with the blood demand. Further investigation revealed that the pick-up truck that the accused was operating at the time of the collision had been taken without the owner's consent.
As a result, Justin James GARDIPY, 23-years-old of Acton has been charged with Failure to Provide or Comply with Demand and Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on August 4, 2020 to answer to the charges.
