(SOUTH HURON, ON) - Drivers, please pay attention to those speed limit signs. When you get stopped and you tell the officer you didn't realize you were in a 50 km/h zone, be advised that excuse just isn't going to cut it.
On Sunday, June 28, 2020 at approximately 3:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR patrols on Main Street in Dashwood when he observed a westbound sedan speeding into town. A RADAR device was used to check on the speed of the vehicle and it was measured at 107 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone.
A traffic stop was conducted and a 21-year-old driver from LaSalle was charged with Drive Motor Perform a Stunt - Excessive Speed. He will now have to attend Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich on October 6, 2020 to answer to the charge.
His driver's licence has been suspended and his motor vehicle has been impounded for a week.
