(GODERICH, ON) - A Goderich resident is facing criminal charges after he was caught trying to steal a bicycle in Goderich last week.
At approximately 1:37 p.m. on June 30, 2020 the victim contacted Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report someone had just attempted to cut the lock off of his bicycle that was secured behind a business located on West Street.
The owner interrupted the theft and the suspect fled the scene leaving behind another bicycle and his bolt cutters. The suspect was identified and police were able to later locate and arrest the accused.
Bailey MERRITT, 35 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, Mischief and Possession of Break-in Instruments. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 28, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
