(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) - On July 16, 2020 at approximately 1:30 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Grey-Bruce CSCU, the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and uniform officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at an address on Wellington Road 32 near Highway 7.
During the execution of the search warrant, a clandestine synthetic drug laboratory was discovered within the residence. OPP specialty units including the Clandestine Laboratory Investigative Response Team, UCRT along with the assistance of the Guelph Fire Department, Office of the Fire Marshall, Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and the Hazardous Material Team dismantled the lab safely.
As a result of the search warrant, a quantity of illicit drugs in various stages of completeness including a bulk amount of finished product, trafficking materials and four firearms were seized. Stolen property was also located during the search.
Peter SCHMIDT, 50-years-old of Guelph-Eramosa Township faces the following charges:
Produce a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine
Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine
Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime
Possession of Prohibited Device
Careless Storage of a Firearm X3
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
