(WEST PERTH, ON) - A Stratford resident is facing Impaired Driving charges after he caused a pretty big crash in Mitchell this past weekend.
At approximately 11:07 p.m. on July 25, 2020 Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, Mitchell Fire Department and Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a crash on Huron Road in Mitchell.
Officers arrived to find a sports car that was travelling westbound on Huron Road left the roadway whereupon it initially collided with two parked vehicles. The second parked vehicle that was struck then careened into a third parked vehicle that in turn struck a residence. Three parked vehicles, a home, a tree and three front yards were all heavily damaged.
A homeowner provided aid by extinguishing an engine fire and assisting the uninjured driver.
Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Sebringville OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of his breath to an Intoxilzer Technician. Both samples were analyzed and they were found to be over the legal limit.
