(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) - A Sarnia resident is facing criminal charges after a road rage incident that took place north of Goderich in August.
On August 19, 2020 at approximately 4:18 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to Champlain Boulevard to assist a victim that intentionally had his taillight smashed out by another motorist.
The subsequent investigation revealed an incident concerning the accused's aggressive driving that quickly escalated from a verbal encounter to a threat and a mischief. Police learned the victim cautioned the victim about his driving and upon doing so the accused grabbed a pipe from his vehicle and threatened the victim. Additionally, the accused smashed a taillight on the victim's vehicle.
Police were later able to identify and arrest the accused without incident. Mark THOMPSON, 34 years of age, from Sarnia has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Mischief. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 26, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
