(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On October 4, 2020, at approximately 3:00 p.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a motorcycle for a provincial offences violation on George Street near Charles Street in Town of Arthur.
It was reported that the driver attempted to flee the scene however, police were able to place the driver under arrest after a brief struggle. Investigation revealed that the motorcycle had been reported stolen from an address in Oxford County.
Police spoke with the driver and determined that they were displaying signs of drug impairment. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
Police discovered the accused was in possession of a stolen handgun, ammunition, a switchblade knife, and a quantity of Fentanyl.
As a result of the investigation, Tomasz KURZYDLOWSKI, 41-years-old of Kitchener, faces the following charges:
Carrying a Concealed Weapon
Resist Peace Officer
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance-Fentanyl
Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/Ammunition
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime
Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon (2 counts)
Operation While Impaired by Drug
Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Fail to Comply with Undertaking
Fail to Stop for Police
Drive while Under Suspension (2 counts)
The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on October 5, 2020.
