(KENORA, ON) – An investigation led by the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in drug trafficking charges.
On April 9, 2024, just before 12:00 p.m., members of the Kenora OPP CSCU were conducting an investigation in the area of Bernier Drive in the City of Kenora when they observed drug transactions take place.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected illicit substances including methamphetamine, hydromorphone, and dilaudid. Canadian currency and other items associated with drug trafficking were also seized.
As a result, Owen CHANG, 30-years-old, of Kenora, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
· Traffick in Schedule I Substance – Opioid
· Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.
