(PEMBROKE, ON) A Laurentian Valley resident is facing several charges after a two-vehicle collision in the City of Pembroke.
On April 27, 2024, at approximately 11:45 a.m. the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating a fail to remain motor vehicle collision that occurred on Pembroke Street East near Angus Campbell Drive. A grey SUV was eastbound on Pembroke Street East when it stopped in a line of traffic. The grey SUV was rear-ended by a white SUV that was also eastbound on Pembroke Street East. The white SUV failed to remain. Two occupants of the grey SUV sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Police have identified the driver of the vehicle that failed to remain and as a result of this investigation 40-year-old Matthew VON DUNGERN has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC), Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA) offences:
Obstruct Peace Officer
Fail to remain
Fail to report accident
Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on June 4, 2024.
