(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) A driver is facing several charges after a vehicle was stopped during a RIDE Program in Laurentian Valley Township.
On June 18, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) encountered the vehicle at a RIDE Program. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. Suspected cocaine was seized during the investigation.
Joseph MARTIN, age 32 of London, ON, has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA) offences:
· Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
· Possession of a schedule I substance cocaine
· Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 30, 2024
