(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) On July 8, 2024, officers from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged three people for drug trafficking offences in the Municipality.
At approximately 1:45 pm, officers on general patrol conducted a traffic stop on Highway 72. Through investigation it was determined that the driver was suspended, the vehicle was not insured, and the driver and occupants were in possession of drug paraphernalia and illicit substances.
Following investigation, Kenneth VENEMA, 61 years old, from Thunder Bay, has been arrested and charged with the following Controlled Drug and Substances Act and Canadian Automobile Insurance Act offences:
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking two counts,
· Operate Motor Vehicle without insurance, and
· Produce false insurance.
As well as facing additional charges under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
Additionally, Elsa SHAKAKEESIC, 32 years old, and Layla GRAY, 22 years old, both from Thunder Bay, are charged with two counts each of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
All accused remain in police custody and will appear in Kenora Ontario Court of Justice Bail court on July 9, 2024.
