(HEARST, ON) A driver was charged with driving while impaired, and three days later was charged for driving suspended.
On July 3, 2024, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in Hearst.
Police located the vehicle in a parking lot on Front Street in Hearst, and upon speaking with the driver, police determined that they had been consuming an alcohol beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Hearst detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Shawn LECOURS, 41 years of age of Jogues, was charged with the following:
· Operation while impaired alcohol and drugs.
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 14, 2024, in Hearst. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle (tractor only) was impounded for seven days.
On July 6, 2024 shortly after midnight 12:00 a.m., James Bay OPP stopped a motorcycle on Des Groseillier Road, in Hanlan Township, north of Hearst. The driver was found to have a suspended drivers licence and was arrested.
As a result of the investigation, Shawn LECOURS, 41 years of age of Jogues, was charged with the following:
· Possession of a Schedule I substance- Cocaine
· Driving while under suspension
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 14, 2024, in Hearst. The motorcycle was impounded for seven days.
