(SOUTH HURON, ON) Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London resident with an Impaired Driving offence following a traffic stop just after 2:30 a.m. on Saturday August 3rd, 2024.
On August 3rd, Huron County OPP officers observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Grand Bend Line in the Municipality of South Huron. The officer noticed that the vehicle driver activated the vehicle high beams several times at the approaching police cruiser. The vehicle was then stopped by police on Grand Bend Line.
Police spoke to the driver and determined they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. A demand was made by police for a sample of the drivers breath into the roadside screening device, which resulted in a failure. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Lambton OPP detachment in Grand Bend for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician. The accused breath samples resulted in readings exceeding the legal limit.

Operation while Impaired Over 80.
The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused drivers license was suspended for a period of 90 days.
