(RENFREW, ON) The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people in connection with a weekend a home invasion robbery in Renfrew.
It happened on Saturday, August 24, 2024, around 6:00 p.m. on Bonnechere Street South. Individuals broke into the home and assaulted the resident, who suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The homeowners car was found on fire a short time later on Briscoe Road and two people were arrested.
Maged KASSIS, age 35 of Renfrew and Jenevieve LEMAIRE, age 31 of Grand Calumet Island have been charged with:
Robbery with violence
Aggravated assault
Forcible confinement
Arson damage to property
Theft of a vehicle
Theft under $5000
Break and enter
KASSIS has additionally been charged with:
Assault a peace officer
Fail to comply with a probation order two counts
Both individuals have been remanded in custody until appearances later this week before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
An arrest warrant has been issued for a third person and investigators are looking for public assistance to identify a fourth person. A photo is attached.
It is believed this was a targeted incident and there is no risk to the general public.
