(EMBRUN, ON) Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a motorist for impaired driving.
On August 31, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers in Embrun received a traffic complaint from a member of the public who stated following a black Chevy pickup truck that was swerving all over the road and hitting the curb. Officers located the vehicle shortly after and the driver was arrested for impaired operation.
The driver was transported to the Embrun OPP Detachment for further testing and failed with her blood alcohol concentration being nearly 5 times the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation, Anick Lachapelle, from Embrun, was charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Operation while impaired alcohol
Adult novice driver blood alcohol concentration above zero
Drive motor vehicle no licence
The motorist received a 90-day drivers licence suspension, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in LOrignal on September 25, 2024.
