(HEAD, CLARA AND MARIA TWP, ON) A local motorist is facing several charges after a single-vehicle collision in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area.
On September 2, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the UOV OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Head, Clara and Maria Township. Investigation found that the eastbound vehicle lost control and entered the eastbound ditch. The driver was not injured. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. Police seized open alcohol from the vehicle.
As a result of this incident Jesse GAGNON, age 41 from Deep River, ON, has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC), Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:
Operation while impaired alcohol
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
Drive motor vehicle no licence
The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on October 1, 2024.
