(GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On August 31, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into the theft of copper wire from hydro lines. The damages and losses were reported at upwards of $100,000. With the help of the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) the investigation has led to the arrest of Kevin M. GIBSON, of Cambridge, he has been charged with:

Theft Over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
Mischief – Destroys or damages property contrary to the Criminal Code
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph, at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
