(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), St. Thomas Detachment, has charged an individual following a traffic stop.
On September 8, 2024, at approximately 8:35 p.m., a member of the Elgin OPP stopped a passenger vehicle on George Street, Municipality of Central Elgin after observing the vehicle travelling without the lighting system fully illuminated.
While speaking with the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test demand was made. The driver refused to provide a breath sample for the ASD test.
As a result of the investigation, Dawn GINGERICH, a 65-year-old from London was charged with:
Failure or refusal to comply with demand
A 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on October 8, 2024.
