(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) A traffic complaint by an off-duty police officer led to the arrest of a drug-impaired driver.
On September 9, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Sunnyside Road in the City of Temiskaming Shores. Through investigation, police determined that the driver had consumed an intoxicating substance. Police arrested the driver and seized drugs suspected to be Fentanyl. The driver was transported to the Temiskaming OPP Detachment for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
As a result of the investigation, Joy HENNESSEY, 42 years-of-age of Kirkland Lake, was charged with:
Operation while impaired drugs
Possession of a Schedule I Substance Opioid
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on September 24, 2024. They were issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and their motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
