(THUNDER BAY, ON) On September 11th, 2024 at approximately 11:38 a.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol & conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act offence along Highway 11-17 near Lakeshore Drive, within the Municipality of Shuniah.
Throughout the investigation, a search of the vehicle revealed suspected cocaine, fentanyl & other items related to drug trafficking. The total street value of the suspected cocaine & fentanyl that was seized is approximately $22,000.00.
Subsequently, four individuals were arrested for drug offences.
As a result of the investigation:
A 17-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Other Drugs, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
Leshaunda MURRAY, 30, of London, Ontario, was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Other Drugs, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, contrary of the Highway Traffic Act;
Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act;
Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act;
Sky BROWN, 31, of London, Ontario, was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Other Drugs, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
Kyler JOHNSON, 29, of Toronto, Ontario, was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Other Drugs, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
Breach of Recognizance, contrary to the Criminal Code;
The four accused were held in-custody for a bail hearing scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on September 12th, 2024.
