(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver following a traffic complaint involving dangerous driving and theft.

On September 17, 2024, shortly before 4:00 p.m., OPP responded to reports of a vehicle being driven dangerously and hitting a guardrail on Highway 62 in Bancroft. The vehicle was located at a nearby gas station, where employees alerted police that the driver had stolen items from the store.

John BHUMIRATANA, a 41-year-old resident of Bancroft, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:



Adult Dangerous Operation
Adult Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting
Adult Operation While Impaired – Drug
Adult Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Adult Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid
Adult Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent
Adult Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 18, 2024, to address the criminal charges.
