(Harrowsmith, ON) A vehicle driving at an excessive speed was stopped by an officer, which resulted in charges laid for the driver being impaired.
Just after 11:30 pm on October 2, 2024, a Frontenac detachment member tracked the vehicle travelling north on Road 38, near Murton Road at an excessive speed of One-hundred-fifty-three kilometres per hour, in a posted Eighty kilometre per hour zone.
The officer stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver was impaired. He was arrested and taken back to the detachment for further breath testing.
Jeffrey Laird, age 35, of Kingston was charged with:
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
Drive Motor Vehicle perform stunt.
Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance.
Having Care or Control of a motor vehicle with Liquor readily available.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on October 29, 2024. The accuseds license was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
