(KAPUSKASING, ON) Police responded to multiple calls of a person with a knife at a restaurant in Kapuskasing.
On October 7, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to multiple calls of a person inside a restaurant on Government Road West in Kapuskasing, throwing items around and carrying a knife.
Police arrived on scene and found the person still in possession of the knife. Due to the persons behaviour and threat to public safety, officers gained control safely and effectively.
Anthony HOHMEYER, 30 years of age of Iroquois Falls, was arrested and charged with:
· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
· Assault with a weapon
· Resist peace officer
· Possession of a schedule I substance cocaine
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on October 8, 2024.
