(TOWNSHIP OF HAMILTON, ON) Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation and stunt driving.
On October 9, 2024, at approximately 11:25 p.m., OPP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 westbound in the Township of Hamilton. An officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling at a speed of 167 Km/h in a posted 110 Km/h speed limit.
The vehicle was stopped and following speaking to the driver, police made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resiling in a fail at which point they were arrested.
Charles MACMILLAN, 56-years-old, from Toronto, has been charged with:
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Drive motor vehicle perform stunt excessive speed.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date. Their drivers licence was also suspended for a period of 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven.
