(NORTH BAY, ON) One driver charged for Impaired Operation.
On October 15, 2024, at approximately 7:40 p.m., the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Highway 11, North Bay. A single white sport utility vehicle (SUV) with a driver and three young occupants had left the roadway causing a roll over.
Through investigation, the driver of the automobile was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.
Sonya DEERING, 34 years-of-age of North Bay was charged with several offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) the Criminal Code (CC) and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):
Operation while impaired drug
Possession of a schedule I substance
Drive while under suspension
Careless driving
Obstruct Peace Officer
Fortunately, all occupants were safe.
The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the North Bay Ontario Court of Justice on October 21, 2024.
