(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual in relation to break and enter investigations.
From May 21 to May 27, 2024, police received a number of break and enter reports from businesses in the Township of Hamilton and the Municipality of Brighton. The majority of these incidents occurred in the early hours of May 21, 2024, in and around the area of Bewdley.
The Peterborough/Northumberland OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) was engaged to assist with these investigations. As a result, a person was identified in connection to the incidents and a warrant was sought. On October 22, 2024, the individual was arrested by OPP.
Allan LAIDLEY (age 41) of Belleville, has been charged with:
– Break, enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence – five counts
– Possession break in instruments – five counts
– Disguise with intent – five counts
The accused was held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
