(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – A collision investigation related to a stolen vehicle has led to charges against two individuals.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, along with the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team and the West Region OPP Canine Unit, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Concession 2 Townsend in Norfolk County.
A sedan, confirmed to have been stolen from an address in Brantford, Ontario, reportedly veered off the road and came to rest in a field, after which one of the occupants fled the scene on foot.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a passenger inside the vehicle and took them into custody without incident. The individual was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Subsequently, officers found the second suspect a short distance from the collision site. After a brief interaction, they were taken into custody. During the arrest, an officer was physically assaulted, though no injuries were reported. This suspect was also transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Charged with the following alleged offence is 28-year-old Julian CISZEWSKI of Burlington, Ontario:
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Charged with the following alleged offences is 49-year-old Charles BEAMISH of Norfolk County:
Assault a Peace Officer,
Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm (three counts),
Fail to comply with Probation Order,
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
