(HEARST, ON) – One person found in possession of stolen property arrested and charged with nine criminal offences.
On October 16, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to report of a theft from a motel room on Front Street in Hearst. As officers were on scene investigating, they located one person in possession of an item taken from the motel room. The person was arrested, and during a search incident to arrest, police located methamphetamine and a switch blade – which is a prohibited weapon.
As a result of the investigation, Lee BLOOM, 47 years of age of Hearst, was charged with:
· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
· Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence
· Theft under $5000
· Unauthorized possession of a weapon
· Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine
· Failure to comply with release order – four counts
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Hearst on November 6, 2024.
