(PEMBROKE, ON) – A school bus driver has been charged after a two-vehicle collision in Pembroke involving a school bus and passenger vehicle.
Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the collision at the intersection of Pembroke Street East and William Street just before 4:00 p.m. on October 30, 2024.
The school bus, which was northbound on William Street, collided with a minivan as it attempted to cross Pembroke Street East. In addition to the driver, there were 14 elementary school-aged students on the school bus. Renfrew County Paramedics attended the scene and medically cleared all the occupants. The occupants of the minivan were not injured, and it was towed from the scene.
As a result of this incident the school bus driver, a 66-year-old from Pembroke, was charged with failing to yield to traffic on a through highway under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
