(BRADFORD, ON) – An eight vehicle, chain reaction collision, resulted in one driver being arrested and charged with numerous criminal charges and provincial offences, early Thursday morning.
On October 31, 2024, shortly after 4:30 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Aurora detachment were dispatched to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 400 south bound, south of Highway 88, in Bradford, Ontario. It was reported that a vehicle had been involved in a collision with another vehicle and had come to rest in a live lane without lights on. This caused a chain reaction collision involving eight vehicles. One person was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
While investigating the collision, officers had cause to enter into an impaired driving investigation involving one of the drivers, who was subsequently arrested at the scene.
As a result, Andrew BURKE, a 36-year-old from Scarborough has been charged with:
Operation while impaired
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Dangerous operation
Several Highway Traffic Act and Cannabis Control Act offences
The accused was released from custody and is set to appear on December 18, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Barrie.
