(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, with support from the Northwest Region Crime Unit (NWR Crime), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Red Lake OPP Detachment, Kenora OPP Detachment and Northwest Region Canine Unit have arrested and charged two individuals with numerous offences.
On November 12, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment responded to a call at a local business on Highway 17 in the Township of Machin.
As a result of the investigation, Joey COOK, a 36-year-old of Kenora, has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
· Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
· Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court – (four counts)
· Unauthorized possession of a Firearm
· Resist Peace Officer
· Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
· Possession Property obtained by Crime Under $5000
Additionally, Dawn DUCHENE, 36-years-old of Kenora was also charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
· Operation while Prohibited
· Flight from Peace Officer
· Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court (two counts)
· Resist Peace Officer
· Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
· Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
· Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000-in Canada
The accused have been held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora November 20, 2024.
