(HUNTSVILLE, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested an individual with impaired-related charged after stopping a motor vehicle speeding on Highway 11.
On November 23, 2024, at 9:48 p.m., members of the OPP were northbound on Highway when their vehicle was overtaken by a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed
The investigation revealed the driver to be operating a motor vehicle while impaired
As a result of the investigation, Islam HERZALLAH, 25-year-old of Thornhill ON, has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Novice driver B.A.C. above zero
· Drive Motor Vehicle Perform stunt Excessive speed
The accused had his Drivers License suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 14 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 17, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.
The Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign is an annual police enforcement and education initiative aimed at taking impaired drivers off Ontario roads during the holiday season. This years campaign runs from November 21, 2024 to January 1, 2025
