(PETAWAWA, ON) A local resident is facing serious Criminal Code (CC) charges after an investigation in the Town of Petawawa.
Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating on November 18, 2024. A Petawawa resident reported returning home to their apartment to find that a gun shot had been fired through a wall shared with an adjacent apartment. At the time of the incident the victims apartment was unoccupied and no one was injured. During the course of the investigation police seized several firearms and ammunition.
As a result of this investigation 23-year-old Matthew RAGHUNATH of Petawawa has been charged with the following CC offences:
· Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner
· Mischief under $5000
· Mischief interfere with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property under $5000
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 30, 2024.
