(PENETANGUISHENE, ON) On November 27th, 2024 at around 5:15 p.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police(OPP) responded to a dispute at a residence on Lepage Drive in Penetanguishene. While attempting to resolve the matter, officers learned that one of the involved parties left the area in a vehicle and was believed to be impaired.
Officers located the driver at a residence on Champlain Road in Penetanguishene and noted signs of impairment. The individual was placed under arrest and transported to detachment for further tests.
As a result of this investigation, Chad Mathieson, 51 years of Penetanguishene, faces the following charge contrary to the Criminal Code:
Impaired Operation Alcohol and Drugs
The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on December 12, 2024. When charged with impaired driving, the drivers license of the accused is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded for 7 days.
