(Prince Edward County, ON) Proactive foot patrol on Main Street in Wellington has resulted in impaired driving charges.
On November 23, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m., members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting foot patrol when they spotted a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. A short time later, officers were able to make contact with the lone occupant of the vehicle. An Approved Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation the driver, Tristan PEACOCK, age 27 from Prince Edward County, was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired alcohol
· Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Having care or control of a vehicle with open container of liquor
· Novice driver with blood alcohol content above zero
· Operation of a vehicle without insurance
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on December 11, 2024.The accuseds licence is suspended for 90 days, and vehicle was impounded for seven day.
