(TOWN OF WASAGA BEACH, SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals with impaired driving related charges in one night.
On November 30, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to multiple traffic complaints of a possible impaired driver in the area of River Road West in Wasaga Beach. Officers located the vehicle on Fernbrook Drive and conducted a traffic stop. After noticing an odour of alcohol, officers administered a roadside Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) on the driver. As a result, Armin BALOG, 29-year-old of North York, was arrested and has been charged with the following:
· Adult Operation while Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
· Adult Operation while Impaired Alcohol and Drugs
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
On December 1, 2024, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver in the area of Bayfield Street in Barrie. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and engaged in an impaired operation investigation. Officers administered a roadside Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) on the driver. As a result, Alberto CARRION ALVAREZ, 31-year-old of Barrie, was arrested and has been charged with the following:
· Adult Operation while Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
· Adult Operation while Impaired Alcohol and Drugs
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
