(MCNAB/BRAESIDE TWP., ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has laid numerous charges after seizing nearly $29,000 worth of illegal psilocybin (magic mushroom) products near Renfrew.
On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, members of the Street Crime Unit, the OPP Regional Support Team and Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit executed a search warrant at a business on River Road in McNab/Braeside Township.
Two people were arrested at the scene. Officers seized more than 1200 grams of dried and packaged psilocybin, as well as a variety of products containing the illegal substance, including gummies, chocolate, tea bags and capsules. Investigators also seized over $1200 in cash, packaging material, debt lists, cell phones and other items.
Benjamin DAGG, age 26 of McNab/Braeside, has been charged with:
Traffic in a Schedule 3 substance two counts
Possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-under $5000 three counts
Jenna LAHAIE, age 38 of Arnprior, has been charged with:
Traffic in a Schedule 3 substance
Possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-under $5000 two counts
Both of these accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 8, 2025.
